CBSE LOC 2026-27: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued important instructions for schools sponsoring students of Class 10 and Class 12 for the Main Board Examinations 2027. All school heads and officials responsible for submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) 2026-27 are advised to carefully follow the guidelines and ensure that accurate student and subject data is submitted within the prescribed schedule.
The submission of the List of Candidates is one of the most important activities in the preparation for the CBSE Board Examinations 2027. Schools must carefully verify students’ personal details, subjects, eligibility, photographs, CWSN status and other required information before final submission.
CBSE LOC 2026-27: What is LOC?
LOC stands for List of Candidates. It is the online process through which CBSE-affiliated schools submit the details of eligible Class 10 and Class 12 students who will appear for the CBSE Board Examinations.
For the 2026-27 session, schools must submit the LOC for the Class 10 and Class 12 Main Examinations 2027.
Important Information to Be Prepared Before LOC Submission
Schools should keep the following information ready before entering the LOC:
- Correct name of the candidate
- Father’s name
- Mother’s name
- Guardian’s name, wherever applicable
- Date of Birth
- Correct subject name and subject code
- Correct subject combination according to the Scheme of Studies
- Category such as Full Subjects, Improvement or Compartment, wherever applicable
- APAAR ID, which is optional
- CWSN-related information, wherever applicable
- Correct photograph of every student
The student data and subjects must be checked carefully before final submission.
Class 10 First Board Examination 2027
Under the Two Board Examination Policy, the First Board Examination for Class 10 to be conducted during February-March is mandatory for all Class 10 candidates.
Therefore, schools must submit the LOC for all eligible Class 10 students for the First Board Examination.
The LOC for the Second Board Examination will be submitted separately after the First Board Examination is completed.
Schools should also conduct an orientation programme for Class 10 students and their parents regarding the Second Board Examination. Students should be informed that the subjects submitted in the current LOC can be opted for in the Second Board Examination.
Schools Must Verify Student Eligibility
Schools must ensure that only eligible and bona fide students are sponsored for the CBSE Board Examinations.
The following points should be verified:
- Candidates must be regular and bona fide students of the school.
- No eligible bona fide student should be left unsponsored.
- Students from unauthorised or unaffiliated schools must not be sponsored.
- Students must be regularly attending classes and satisfy the minimum attendance requirements.
- Students must not be registered with another School Education Board in addition to CBSE.
- Students must fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed under the CBSE Examination Bye-Laws.
- For Class 12, students must have passed Class 10 from a recognised School Education Board on or before the academic year 2025.
OASIS and HPE Portal Requirements
Newly affiliated schools must first enter the required information on the OASIS portal and thereafter submit the required data on the HPE portal before proceeding with LOC submission.
Existing schools must also update their information on the OASIS and HPE portals before submitting the LOC.
After successful submission of data on the HPE portal, a Confirmation Number will be generated. Schools should keep this number safely for future reference.
Important Instructions for Teachers’ Data
Schools must update teacher information carefully in OASIS.
- Teachers teaching Classes IX-X should be listed as TGTs.
- Teachers teaching Classes XI-XII should be listed as PGTs.
- Teachers who have left the school must be deleted from the records.
- Full names of teachers must be entered.
- Abbreviations should not be used.
- Salutations should not be added before teachers’ names.
- For TGT teachers teaching Classes IX-X, the subject studied at graduation should also be entered correctly.
Accurate teacher data is important for the appointment of eligible evaluators.
Student Data from Previous Registration
While submitting LOC for Classes X and XII, schools will see the data of students that was submitted during their previous registration in Classes IX and XI.
Schools should:
- Delete students who have left the school.
- Add eligible newly admitted students only according to CBSE rules.
- Obtain the required approval from the concerned Regional Office for Direct Admission cases.
Students seeking re-admission to Class X or XII will be treated as Re-Admission cases, and the applicable Direct Admission procedure must be followed.
LOC Submission is Online
CBSE has stated that the LOC submission process must be completed online.
The facility to submit LOC data through downloadable Excel files is not available. Therefore, schools should carefully enter and verify the information directly through the online system.
Student Photograph Upload
Schools that did not upload student photographs during Class IX/XI registration must upload the photographs before final LOC submission.
Newly affiliated schools must also upload photographs of their bona fide students.
Schools should verify that the correct photograph is uploaded against each student’s record.
Subject Combination Must Be Checked Carefully
Schools must follow the CBSE Scheme of Studies while selecting subjects for Class 10 and Class 12.
The Board has prescribed valid and invalid subject combinations. Schools should verify the combination before submitting the LOC.
Candidates with subject combinations that do not comply with the CBSE Scheme of Studies may be treated as Not Eligible.

Schools should be particularly careful while selecting similar subjects with different subject codes.
CWSN Students: Important Instructions
CBSE provides various exemptions and concessions to eligible Children with Special Needs (CWSN) students.
Schools must carefully select the appropriate CWSN category while submitting the LOC so that applicable examination concessions can be provided.
The CWSN portal will be made available along with the LOC process. However, the last date for submitting CWSN data will be earlier than the last date for LOC submission.
Therefore, schools should collect the required information and records and submit CWSN data within the prescribed timeline.
After the deadline, schools will not be able to add another candidate as CWSN.
Annual Income of Parents
Schools may collect information regarding the annual income of parents for scholarship and other purposes.
The income should be recorded based on the information provided by the parents.
Schools should not demand ITR or other income proof from parents for this purpose.
Skill Subjects and Academic Subjects
As per the applicable CBSE provisions, affiliated schools can offer academic subjects according to the prescribed rules.
Schools offering subjects involving laboratory work must ensure that the required approval has been obtained where necessary.
CBSE has also clarified that no formal permission is required from the Board for introducing Skill Subjects at any level, subject to the applicable provisions.
Data Submission in One Lot
All student details should be submitted in one lot for each applicable fee slab.
Partial submission of student data within a fee slab will not be permitted.
Schools should therefore ensure that all eligible candidates are included and verified before final submission.
Aadhaar-Based E-Signature of Principal
From 2021 onwards, schools are not required to send a signed physical copy of the finalised LOC to the concerned Regional Office.
The LOC is uploaded through the system using the E-signature linked with the Aadhaar of the Principal.
Therefore, schools must take extra care to ensure that the data is completely correct before final submission.
Private and Second Chance Compartment Candidates
The online submission link for Private Candidates and Second Chance Compartment Candidates will be made available separately by CBSE.
LOC Last Date and Submission Time
The online submission will close at 11:59 PM on the prescribed last date.
Schools are advised not to wait until the final day because heavy internet traffic, slow connectivity or server-related issues may affect submission.
CBSE has stated that the scheduled deadlines must be followed and schools should complete all activities within the prescribed dates.
No Changes After the Final Deadline
After the prescribed deadlines, CBSE will generally not consider requests relating to:
- Change of subjects
- Admission in Classes X and XII, except permitted transfer cases
- CWSN concessions
- Direct admission cases beyond the permitted schedule
- Subject changes
- Corrections
- Certain sports-related issues
- Change of examination centre
Therefore, schools and parents must carefully verify all information before final submission.
Important Precautions Before Final LOC Submission
Schools should verify the following:
Student Details
- Student’s name is correct.
- Mother’s name is correct.
- Father’s/Guardian’s name is correct.
- Date of Birth is correct.
- Details match the Admission & Withdrawal Register.
Subject Details
- Subject name is correct.
- Subject code is correct.
- Subject combination is valid.
- Subjects follow the CBSE Scheme of Studies.
Other Details
- Correct photograph is uploaded.
- CWSN status is correct, where applicable.
- OASIS data is updated.
- HPE data is submitted.
- Confirmation Number is safely retained.
- Examination fee is paid.
- Final LOC submission is completed.
Principals Must Monitor LOC Submission
CBSE has specifically instructed Principals to closely monitor the LOC submission process.
From seven days before the last date, Principals should obtain a daily report from the concerned teacher or official regarding:
- LOC submission status
- Fee payment status
- Pending student data
- Corrections required
The Principal is responsible for ensuring that all eligible students are registered with correct information within the prescribed schedule.
Common Reasons Will Not Be Accepted for Non-Submission
Schools should not expect excuses such as:
- The clerk responsible for registration was absent.
- The teacher responsible for registration was unwell.
- Students did not provide their details.
- A student was not attending school.
- The school forgot to complete final submission.
Schools must make appropriate arrangements in advance to ensure timely completion of the LOC process.
Data Verification Slip for Board Examinations 2027
CBSE has introduced an important additional step to help schools and students verify their submitted information.
After the last date of LOC submission, schools will be able to generate a Data Verification Slip for each candidate.
If the candidate’s:
- Name
- Mother’s name
- Father’s name
- Guardian’s name
- Date of Birth
- Subject offered
is found to be incorrect, CBSE will allow correction during the specified correction window.
Correction Window
02 November 2026 to 04 November 2026
Once this correction period ends, no further correction will be allowed by CBSE.
Therefore, students and schools should carefully verify the Data Verification Slip within the permitted period.
