Out of the total 814 Lecturer vacancies, 36 posts are reserved for the Kalyana Karnataka (KK) region under Article 371J, while 778 posts are allocated to the Non-Kalyana Karnataka (NKK) region.

The government had earlier granted permission to fill Lecturer vacancies through separate communications.
Kalyana Karnataka – 36 Posts
Government Letter No. EP 25 DGD 2022 dated 02-08-2022 had permitted the filling of 36 Lecturer posts in 7 different subjects reserved for the Kalyana Karnataka region under Article 371J.
NKK – 778 Posts
Government Letter No. EP 9 DGD 2022 dated 18-08-2022 had permitted the filling of 778 Lecturer posts in 10 different subjects under the Non-Kalyana Karnataka region.
These vacancies have now been reclassified subject-wise, and permission has been granted to fill a total of 814 Lecturer posts through direct recruitment.
Amendment to Recruitment Rules
The Government had introduced amendments to the cadre and recruitment rules of the Pre-University Education Department through Government Notification No. ED 185 DGD 2017 (Part-3), dated 15-10-2024.
The amendment revised the provision relating to the authority responsible for conducting the competitive examination for direct recruitment of Lecturers.
The earlier reference to the Karnataka Examinations Authority was revised to “the authority specified by the Government.”
For the present recruitment of 814 Lecturer posts, the Government has specifically designated the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) as the selection authority.
Amendment for Teaching Classes 9 and 10
The Government has also made an amendment to enable Pre-University Lecturers to undertake teaching activities for Classes 9 and 10.
For this purpose, an amendment was made to Column (4) of Serial No. 10 of the relevant table under the Karnataka General Services (Pre-University Education) (Recruitment) Rules, 2013.
The amendment was issued through Notification No. EP 09 DPI 2026 dated 14-07-2026.
The same amendment will also be applicable to the 814 Lecturer posts approved for the current recruitment.
