Census 2027: 40 Questions Released – Check Complete Household Schedule: The Government has published an important notification regarding the Census of India 2027. Notification No. S.O. 4505(E), dated August 14, 2026, issued by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, has been republished in the Karnataka Gazette, Part-IV, Section-C.
Along with the notification, the Kannada version of the 40 questions to be asked through the Household Schedule has also been published for the information of the general public.

What Information Will Be Collected in Census 2027?
The 40-item Household Schedule covers a wide range of information about individuals and households. The questions include details relating to personal information, family relationships, education, language, literacy, employment, occupation, economic activity, migration and residential status.
The schedule also includes questions regarding certain identity and financial-related details, including bank accounts, mobile number, Aadhaar number, Voter ID number and passport number, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.
Questions Related to Children
Some questions in the Household Schedule are specifically applicable to certain married-status categories of women.
These include:
- Number of children surviving at present
- Number of children ever born alive
- Number of children born alive during the last one year

Aadhaar, Voter ID and Mobile Number
The Census 2027 questionnaire includes separate items for Mobile Number, Aadhaar Number and Voter ID Number.
The notification specifies “if available” for the mobile number and Aadhaar number. It also includes a question regarding the availability of a driving licence and the passport number for Indian passport holders.
