Navodaya Class 9 & 11 Admission 2027: Apply Online
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has started the application process for Lateral Entry Admission to Class 9 and Class 11 for the academic year 2027-28.

What is Lateral Entry Admission?
Admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas generally takes place at the Class 6 level. However, vacant seats available in Class 9 and Class 11 are filled through a lateral entry selection examination.
Students studying in other eligible schools can appear for the relevant Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST). Admission is provided based on merit and the availability of vacant seats in the concerned Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
Class 9 Lateral Entry Admission 2027-28
Students currently studying in Class 8 during the academic year 2026-27 can apply for admission to Class 9, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.
Eligibility for Class 9 Admission
Candidates should satisfy the following conditions:
- The student must be studying in Class 8 during the academic year 2026-27 in a government or recognized school in the concerned district.
- The candidate’s date of birth should be between 1 May 2012 and 31 July 2014.
- Students who have already passed Class 8 in an earlier academic year are not eligible.
- Candidates who have previously appeared for the relevant JNVST examination are not eligible to appear again.
- Admission will be limited to the vacant seats available in the concerned district.
Class 9 Entrance Exam Pattern
The Class 9 entrance examination will have a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes.

Important OMR Instructions
- A separate OMR answer sheet will be provided.
- Candidates must mark their answers on the OMR sheet.
- Only a blue or black ballpoint pen should be used.
- Candidates should bring their own pen.
- Use of pencil is strictly prohibited.
- Each question will have four options, with only one correct answer.
- The selected answer must be completely darkened on the OMR sheet.
- Once an answer is marked, it cannot be changed.
- Erasing, overwriting or using correction fluid on the OMR sheet is not permitted.
- Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Class 11 Lateral Entry Admission 2027-28
Students currently studying in Class 10 during the academic year 2026-27 can apply for Class 11 lateral entry admission, subject to the prescribed conditions.
Eligibility for Class 11 Admission
- The candidate must be studying in Class 10 during the academic year 2026-27 in a government or recognized school.
- Students studying under CBSE or any State/National Education Board can apply.
- Candidates who passed Class 10 before the academic year 2026-27 are not eligible.
- The candidate’s date of birth should be between 1 June 2010 and 31 July 2012.
- Candidates can select a maximum of two streams.
- For each stream, candidates can select a maximum of three JNVs.
- Admission will depend on the availability of seats in Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational streams.
Class 11 Entrance Exam Pattern
The examination will be conducted for 2 hours 30 minutes.
